The Milky Whey.

On Thursday the 10th of April we got a little news paper that is called the Milky Whey.
Some of the activities are all about cows and dairy products like milk, cheese and other dairy products.
There is a cow called Rosie. She has her own website called Rosies World. It has lots of cool games.
The games are all about farms and dairy stuff there are lot of word finds and
other cool games and activities you can do. It was a good way to finish off our dairy unit and see how much we know about dairying.

Ice Cream Advertisement

In Room One we have been making an Ice Cream Poster for an Ice Cream that we have designed.  We have had to put a descriptive title, a question and a catchy slogan to catch peoples attention.
My group's title is Choc-o-Lumps and our question is 'Are you ready for a lumpy bumpy Choc-o-Lump?' and the last one is our Catchy Slogan and that is Sweet Treat and You'll fall in love. We would like to target everybody.
We all have a group of two or three people. I have three people in my group. We are doing this for our Science experiment. I think this is a great experiment for everybody in our class.

Our Ice Cream is made out of Pinapple Lumps and Chocolate Sauce. We hope that everybody will love our Ice Cream and we will win the competition but even if we don't win the competition I will still be really happy I got to be in it.
 As a group we have been working well together but we have had our ups and downs but we still hope that everybody thinks that it is either the best Ice Cream flavour they have ever tasted or one of there favourite Ice Creams. I have had a fantastic time making the Poster for the Ice Cream and I can't wait to make the Ice Cream.

In class this week we have been learning about Ice-Cream flavors because we are going to create our own flavours.  First we listed the popular flavors. Here are some:

Vanilla, Chocolate, Hokey Pokey, Banana Chocolate Chip and Goody Goody Gum Drops.

Then we listed some bizarre flavors that we found on the internet like: Shark Fin, Squid, Green Tea and Carrot, barbecue, pancakes, apricot and chocolate buttons, goat cheese with red cherry, avocado, French toast and Beer .

Now we are put in groups of Two or Three and we are going to create our own Ice-Cream.  Watch out for new flavours in the supermarket!!!

Science

In Room 1 we have been doing science experiments, which is making school made butter, making food colouring move with dish washing liquid, making ice cream and milkshakes.

To make school made butter you have to get a rock, clean it well, get a bottle of cream,  put the rock in the jar & after that fill the jar quarter fill with cream. Close the lid tight & start to shake it so you can hear the rock hitting the bottom of the jar, check it in 5 min & if there is not a big lump in the jar then shake it another 5 min again, If it had a big lump in the middle then it was butter & if you put it on a cracker it tasted yummy.  
I liked doing this experiment because I have never made home made butter before.

Room 1 Science

Last week in Room 1 we had to compare the changes that occur when different liquids are added to milk.
We had to add to add 3 drops of food coloring  to a plate of milk then we added some dish washing liquid to the plate of milk and food coloring.
 But what happened next was amazing because when we added the dish washing liquid the food coloring  went to the edges.

The reason this happened was because the protein in the milk repels the dishwashing liquid. The food coloring show how the milk is moving.
