ZAK'S ANZAC DAY

Standing in the darkness, listening to the sad sound of the bugle playing. Boom, boom went the cannon. It was loud. The ceremony was long and sad and the only person I could think about was granddad Reg. We listened to speeches from John Key and we sang Amazing Grace.  After the wreaths the ceremony was over. We went home and packed our things and went to Kaka Point. By Zak. P

The Fox And The Grapes.

Once there was a little fox.  He sat under a thick branch with the most delicious juicy grapes hanging down above his head. The little fox tried with all his might to get the grapes. He poked and whatever else to try and get them. He tried to climb the tree but the fine trunk was to strait and no matter how hard he tried he just couldn't. The sun was setting and the fox gave up. They were probably completely rotten and way too sour to even lick he thought as he pulled himself away from the grapes and walked towards  home.

Jamie And The Planet Amared

As we hopped in the rocket it was very
scary,we were going to this planet that no one has been to or know what's living there. As the count down started we saw somthing moving it was Jamie that tries to apply to go to the planet with us. As we told her to get out it was to late!!
During the flight it was very bumpy and it didn't help that Jamie was playing around all the swiches.
Finally she calmed down and started telling jokes.
Landing was very scary because right in front of us was...... A HUGE ROCK!!!!!
But luckily we were on the right angle to miss the HUGE rock. The planet was very brown and stoney with lots of big holes. Later on we unpacked the rocket then........  me and the caption got destracted by this big rumbling sound. When we turned around everything was out of the rocket but something was still missing it was........ JAMIE!!!! So we  off looking and looking for her, but there was no sign of her, so we set home. Now I know you will be wondering how because you don't have  the rocket. But thank cherrys we had enough signle to to make a phone call to get help to pick us up. But the hardest part of the misson was  explain everything to everyone who loved and that was very close to Jamie the heart breaking news.

The Water Cycle

The water cycle is driven by a massive ball of heat called the Sun.There are many stages of the water cycle like evaporation, transporation, condensation, infiltration, precipitation and many others. Evaporation. it is when liquid water turns to water vapour (an invisible gas that doesn't stink like farts ) after this comes condensation. This is when the water vapour joins up an makes clouds the water vapour continues to join up until it form water droplets and precipitates. precipitation comes in 4 forms rain, sleet hail and snow!!!

Pollution. the worst thing ever. Mainly made by idiot humans if people wise up we will not pollute stuff and more life will flourish . Pollution is made when we put chemicals into the air ground and water it is also caused by radioactive waste and human waste.

We use water for many things like bathing, drinking and fun. but if we don't look after the water cycle we won't be able to use it . you won't have any fresh water if we keep up this rate of pollution.

We use water for lots of things but if we keep polluting it we will have no  water that we can actually drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A is for ANZAC

ANZAC is the name the Generals gave the soldiers. The soldiers landed on the beach at Gallipoli very early in the morning of April 25th 1915.ANZAC is also the name we give to a special day.
by Sarah

ANZAC

I think that the whole idea of ANZAC is brilliant . Especially ANZAC DAY,that is the day Australia & NZ remember all of their soldiers that went to war . The Last Post is usually played on ANZAC DAY. ANZAC stands for Australia & NZ Army Corpse.
By Jake

N is for Nurses

The ANZACs called the nurses 'front line angels.' It took a long time for the nurses to carry a wounded soldier to the hospital because of the mud and cratered roads. To save time, they built some of the hospitals at the front line.

The nurses who worked in the hospitals were every bit as brave as the men. Their job was to save lives. Many soldiers owe their lives to the 'front line angels.'

Hannahs thoughts on ANZAC

ANZAC stands for Australia New zealand Army Corps. My great grandfather Ray Gover was in World War 2. He was a tool fitter  He ran away to  join the navy. When his ship was torpedoed by an enemy ship Ray was badly injured. Ray was caught in an oil slick, but he managed to swim back and  got a soldier who was unconscious  Ray held the unconscious mans  head above  the water so he did not drown. They were rescued 8 hours later .

ANZAC is about how   all the soldiers who fought for our country. and who died in the war.

Hunter's thoughts on ANZAC

I learnt that:

They were helping the britisth.
They lived in dreadful conditions.
Horses were used as well as big tanks.
Poppies were the first thing to grow after the battles.

What I know:
They fought all over the place.
Lots died.
The ones that didn't die got shell shock and had a bad life afterwards.

My thoughts:
War is horrible.
I wouldn't want to be a soldier.

By Hunter

ANZAC thoughts

I know the soldiers somtimes hide in trenches.

I know that most of the soldiers have medals on the left shoulder and some on the right.

I learned army soldiers are not enemy's they are just friends that got chosen to fight for their country.

I learnt that the only thing they eat is biscuits.

I think it is weird they fight when they are friends.

I think nobody should even fight.

X is for xenyl chloride

Gas was used as well as bullets and bombs. It was a nasty weapon which killed many ANZAC's and left others very sick. Some ANZAC's were so sick, that 60 years after being gassed, they were still in hospital. Imagine spending your entire life in hospital.

Kendrick

Dylans thoughts on ANZAC

WW1 was not a good place. There were lots of deaths, funerals,VCs and awards. ANZAC stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corp. People waiting at home for them sometimes wrote letters to the soldiers. If the soldiers were held prisoner they weren't allowed to talk about how horrible it was. All the soldiers had to be in a trench as long as their not injured. If the soldiers wanted to have a sleep they would have to dig a hole and sleep in it.

                                         By Dylan

ANZAC Day

What I know about the ANZAC war is that it was very dangerous, loud and not a fun place to be in. The ANZACs had to eat bully beef and fly stew, if you wonder why fly stew its because fly would fly into there stew (Yuck!) Some of the ANZACs who survived the war said "The bullets were like hailstones whizzing past my body,'' Also some of the ANZACs couldn't sleep  because they had nightmares about the war.
